Innovation abstracts accepted from all NHS staff and should not include research. We encourage short video presentations and can include 'how I do things...'. Video attachment should be included , if part of the presentation.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA
SURGICAL SANDPIT - ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES - DEADLINE 20TH AUGUST
AWARD: £20,000

1. The pilot project must involve the Lancashire and South Cumbria population.
2. Must have a Project Lead or Co-Lead employed in LSC in an NHS institution
3. Administrative and research-focused resources & facilities with the capability of delivering the project before release of funds.
4. Originality: Must be contributing to an urgent or emerging health need, patient benefit, new technology or novel concept requiring further proof & must be surgical in nature and/or having an impact on patients having surgery for cancer
5. Project proposal must demonstrate patient and public involvement and engagement and consideration of issues of Health Equity throughout all stages of the research design before release of funds.
6. Project must be deliverable within 2 years and yearly presentation of interim analyses/findings at subsequent SILASC conferences.
7. In cases where the costings exceed the Sandpit grant, the successful candidate will have to provide proof of the where the rest of the cost will be appropriated
8. Projects must include a brief lay summary of no more than 350 words
Criteria for Disbursement of Funds
1. Assessment by a Research Ethics Committee with both REC & HRA approvals.
2. A brief costings analysis as to how the funds will be used.
A draft proposal with a word limit of 1000 words not including the headings or references must be in the following format sections:
Introduction, Hypothesis, Scientific basis, Aims, Methodology, References
